Our Team
Jeff Woody, CEO
Jeff first started working on speed development as an athlete, going to Acceleration Iowa in 2006 as a sophomore in high school. After being all-state in football and baseball, he went to play football at Iowa State, where he played runningback/H-back and capped off the memorable upset of Oklahoma State in 2011. While in school, he started an internship at Acceleration Iowa in 2010 on his way to a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and a master’s degree in biomedical sciences. Upon graduation, he got into owning, coaching, and running gyms professionally and has been doing so ever since.
Shawn Nuetzman, CFO
Shawn grew up playing every sport imaginable in rural Iowa, having been raised in Wall Lake. He went on to play (club) baseball at Iowa State, which is where he got a degree in exercise science. The longest-tenured coach on the team, Shawn has been training athletes since 2007. What’s stuck out over the 15+ years of training is how much the attitude of the athlete makes a difference. His experience not only with the “Xs and Os” of training, but with the people doing the work is what makes Shawn such a special gym owner and coach.
Tucker Herzberg, Director of Training
Tucker is another rural kid, a native of Algona, Iowa. His path also took him to Iowa State, where he got a degree in Kinesiology. Upon graduation, he got work in Maryland working for a hospital system working with athletes recovering from injuries. What stuck out to him then was how much data therapists, athletic trainers, and doctors used when assessing progress. That inspired him to bring data into coaching and training. This groundbreaking, data-driven approach is the basis for what Goldfinch Speed does.
